Your Non-Traditional Wedding

I have some tips that will be helpful in pointing you in the right direction whether you are thinking of having a traditional wedding with your own twist or you want to have something completely out of the box. Following some or all of these guidelines will be helpful in getting you to your desired outcome in planning your very own unique and offbeat wedding.

Tip 1: Be honest with yourself: The first thing you want to do is to take stock of who you are. That may sound silly because it seems so obvious, but it isn’t. It is important for you to know who you are and what is most important to you because that is what will help you make the decisions you need to make. Most couples are taken off guard when they start planning their wedding whether traditional or not. They find themselves being pulled in so many directions because of all the ideas being placed before them, so much that they get confused about what it is they themselves want. Knowing who you are will help you stay true to yourself and what it is that you really want your wedding to look like.

Tip 2: Don’t let anyone tell you what you should or should not do: Every one has an idea of what they think you should do.Thoughts about how to choose your colors, your wedding gown, what’s currently in, right down to how you should wear your hair or if you should wear the queens’ tiara. Remember though that no one knows you as well as you know yourself, so really at the end of the day, you alone can decide what suits you best and what reflects you most accurately.

Tip 3: Be true to yourself: If you like bright colors, use them. If you think race cars are the coolest thing ever or you love the idea of riding a Harley to your wedding, wearing sneakers, a top hat or a color that is otherwise considered taboo, then embrace that and use it to express yourself. This might sound a lot like I am talking about shock factor, but what I am really talking about is authenticity. Be yourself because there is only one of you and that is what will make your event unique. No one else can be you no matter how much they try. What better way to be original than that?

Tip 4: Avoid making any decisions out of fear: It is impossible to make good decisions under pressure or the fear of making a good or bad decision. Make sure to give yourself the time to think through your options with no pressure or any induced fears.

Tip 5: Allow yourself to think outside the box: It might seem difficult to figure out how you can pull off all the ideas you have but if you are willing to be creative and to think outside the box, you will be surprised what you come up with.

Tip 6: Don’t get preoccupied with what others expect or think you should do: Understanding that you cannot please everyone is going to give you an enormous amount of freedom in the process of planning your offbeat wedding your way! It is necessary to make peace with the fact that you will not be able to please everyone. This is not a license for you to become a Bridezilla, it is just so that you know that it is okay for you to make decisions that you are happy with even when others aren’t.

Tip 7: Understand that this is a process and it is also a growing experience. You don’t plan weddings everyday so naturally you will find a few things about the process challenging. That is okay, it doesn’t have to ruin your entire experience. Making peace with the nature of the process will help you to deal with it and enjoy it.

Tip 8: Don’t be afraid to do some research and to get help from experts: Most wedding planners are happy to consult with you and to help you with your process. They are often happy to give you a free consultation in which you can ask for advice and help for when you are having trouble with pulling off some part of your plan.

Pre-Wedding Tips to Help Your Guy Get Happily

Most brides freak out in one way or another before their wedding day. Grooms freak out, too.

Freaking out before a wedding day is perfectly normal and this experience comes in all shapes and sizes. Freaking out may mean going away for a weekend to think or ponder, escaping for a day with a friend or oneself, taking a 2 a.m. drive to “clear ones head,” or just having a moment in time where one is jumpy, irritable, quiet, snappy or weepy.

A wedding day freak out experience is a natural response to what a wedding is really all about: it is a huge life transition from one state of life to another. During an engagement period, it is healthy to ask hard questions and to question a big life choice. A wedding brings up a lot of “stuff,” and the best thing you can do as an engaged couple is to turn toward each other not away from each other. So, let’s help your guy!

Here are four pre-wedding tips to help get your guy (and you!) down the wedding aisle with ease and grace:

1) Don’t Make Freaking Out Before A Wedding A Big Deal: Instead of looking at a freak out experience as a negative, view it as a positive. Feelings come up during an engagement that are meant to be acknowledged and talked about. Instead of pushing aside uncomfortable feelings that may be bubbling at the surface, face them head on. Invite your Sweetheart to talk with you by letting him know it’s safe to “feel funny” or uncomfortable, blue or uncertain during a big life transition.

2) Sit Down Together And Make A Big Dream Map: I know, this may sound trite. If your guy is feeling a bit “out of sorts” and seems distant, in lieu of talking, create an evening where you both sit down with a pile of magazines and create a dream map or “vision board” for your future together. This “to do activity” involves a lot of cutting and pasting and is great for a guy who likes to be “doing something” while talking. This arts and crafts task may also easily elicit conversation around sensitive or choppy topics/issues.

3) Suggest A Get-A-Way for Your Guy: Sometimes, guys just want to be with guys. If your guy is seeming a bit overwhelmed with wedding stuff, suggest that he and a guy friend or more take a weekend and go do “guy stuff.” Sometimes just being with guy friends helps an almost married guy keep things in perspective and guys talk is much different than guy/gal talk!

4) Do Pre-Marriage Work: To navigate any and all pre-wedding freak out moments, take time during your engagement to deepen your relationship so you can both walk into your wedding day with confidence and great appreciation and respect for one another.

Pre-marriage coaching or counseling – either as a couple or in a group – is an excellent way for you to deepen your relationship and bond and to create enhanced intimacy and communication. It’s suggested that less than 10% of all couples do any pre-marriage work. Be brave, be leading edge and protect your relationship with skills and tools to co-create a happy partnership and marriage!

Wedding Tips Help Make Planning

If you are like many women, you’ve had a fairly good idea of what you wanted your wedding to be like since you were a small child. This is actually a good thing, as you will have this in mind when you starting looking for wedding tips on how to make your wedding dreams come true, and for when you start getting tips you did not ask for.

Even though you think you’ve got it all planned out in your head, right down to the last detail, it’s still a good idea to research bridal magazines, bridal websites, and other sources for wedding tips that will help you accomplish your goals. You may be surprised at some of the information you discover.

For example, you may have always pictured yourself in a long white gown with a 100-foot train. When you read how heavy a train of such length can be, however, you may find yourself thinking, “OK, 25, 50 feet will work.” Or, if you are adamant about the length, you may find information on types of fabric that work best with longer trains. You might even learn how to make a long train detachable without spoiling the look of the dress.

If your dream wedding is unfortunately coming up against a real-life budget, look for wedding tips that will tell you how to save money without sacrificing beauty or elegance. These can be as simple as renting some of the decorations or figuring out ways that the same decorations can be used at both the wedding and reception.

Eight Wedding Tips To Pull Off The Perfect

These wedding tips will help you to have a celebration unlike any other. Your wedding should be a time of rejoicing and excitement. It should be a time that is free from stress, where you can relax and just enjoy the fun of having all of your family and friends around to enjoy the big day. Unfortunately, this is rarely how it all works out. If you look at the following wedding tips far in advance, you can make sure that you do not forget anything that may cause your day to be stressful.

1. Invite more people than you think will come.

Most of the time, only about seventy-five to eighty percent of the people who are invited actually come to the wedding. Invite more than you want so that you can fill all of the seats.

2. Mail out Save The Date cards before your invitations.

You want people to be able to plan ahead since many of them will have to get work off to come. This can help them do that months or even a year in advance.

3. Delegate as many things as you can.

You want to plan your own wedding, of course, but you should accept help from your friends and family members.

4. Do not stress over the small things.

While having the right dress is important, having the right number of forks is not. If you let every little detail stress you out, you will not have a good time.

5. Remember that your opinion is the one that counts.

Many people try to cater their wedding to what someone else thinks that they should do. In order to really love it, just make it exactly what you want.

6. Set up the food and drinks well in advance.

Since you will need so much food and so many drinks, do not wait until the last minute. You want to make sure that you have a company in place to provide everything that you need.

7. Make a schedule of events.

Do not just assume that you can take pictures at some point. Plan exactly when that will happen. If everyone knows what is happening next, they will be much easier to track down so that everything can happen on time.

8. Have a comprehensive rehearsal first.

This is your chance to run through everything and find out just how it will all work. Some things that sounded good when you talked about them might not really work when you are trying to do them. Make sure that you have plenty of time at the rehearsal so that you can iron everything out and make it all as perfect as you desire.

Smashing Hot Wedding Tips on a Budget

Are you planning for one of the biggest days of your life? Of course you want to spend some money, but what to do when you are on a small budget? You may believe that it is impossible to have your wedding look extravagant without a big bucks budget.

Fortunately there are a lot of great wedding tips on a budget available for you. Here are my 5 most smashing wedding tips for the budget bride and groom.

There are a lot of areas where you can save a great deal of money for your wedding. And do not worry about the appearance of your wedding even if you can not spend that much money. It does not have to look cheap!

My List of 5 Hot Wedding Tips on a Budget

1. The Guest List

Most people want to invite a lot of guests to their big day. All family members, friends an co-workers. What you may not consider is that a big guest list will cost you much more money. Try to filter out the guest list a bit and think of the people that are most important to you, and maybe you can make it a little bit smaller, and cheaper.

2. The Invitation Cards

Pre-made and customized invitation cards can be very costly. A great alternative to buying these, are to do-it-yourself. There are thousands of great templates online which you could use to design your own wedding invitation cards. Many of them are FREE, and others can be purchased for a couple of dollars. When you are done you could print them from your computer or you could just send them electronically by email.

3. The Wedding Dress

The bride’s wedding dress could become an expensive story of it’s own. There are a lot of possibilities online where you can get really cheap dresses, maybe used only one time or even zero times. eBay is a great place to start looking at, but you could also check out some ads sites.

4. The Decorations

Decorations are very important on a wedding, but it could also be very expensive to buy all the flower arrangements, centerpieces and other stuff from a professional decorator. All of this is totally possible to create yourself, with a little imagination and creativity. Go buy yourself a book about decorations, check out YouTube or just “Google” it.

5. The Alcohol Expenses

If possible, cut down your alcohol expenses to the minimum. This one of the most costly things at the reception party, so cutting these costs could really save your budget. Maybe it’s not an option for you to skip alcohol, then you should at least try to serve a limited variety of alcohol.
